HURRICANE HARVEY EXPECTED TO MAKE LANDFALL TONIGHT

  

KWHI spoke with Washington County Judge John Brieden this (Friday) morning about preparations for Hurricane Harvey.  Judge Brieden was headed to a meeting with other city and county officials at the Emergency Operations Center located in the Brenham Fire Station.  Brieden compared this storm to Hurricane Carla in 1961:

 

Brieden said that the main thing that county residents need to be concerned about is heavy rainfall and flooding:

 

Brieden issued an Emergency Declaration of Local Disaster for Washington County Friday afternoon. Hurricane Harvey is expected to make landfall this evening near Corpus Christi as a Category 3 storm.
