INFORMATION BEING REQUESTED BY OFFICE OF EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT

Washington County has received a large amount of rain since the beginning of May, and the Office of Emergency Management is collecting information for future planning and historical data.

If you have suffered property or residential damage due to the rain, please call 979-337-7272 and they can route you to the appropriate county official. If you are an Agriculture Producer and have suffered any loss because of the rain or flooding, you may qualify for some federal assistance.

You may contact 979-337-7272 and provide them with your information and they will route that information to the appropriate department.

Because Washington County participates in the National Flood Insurance Program, a floodplain permit is required for all development and/or construction within the flood plain before construction begins. This is not intended as a burden, but rather to reduce hazards, loss of life, and property damage within flood-prone areas.

The Washington County Environmental Health Dept. administers flood plain determination and flood plain development permitting for property located in the unincorporated areas of Washington County.

Current flood maps of Washington County may be viewed at our office, and are also available on our website along with additional information about the floodplain permitting process at www.co.washington.tx.us Under the County Departments drop-down menu, click on Environmental Health, then scroll down.
