IOLA TEACHER ACCUSED OF INAPPROPRIATE RELATIONSHIP WILL NOT BE INDICTED
A Grimes County grand jury has decided not to indict a former Iola teacher accused of having an inappropriate relationship with a high school student.
Last month, the teacher resigned amidst a Grimes County Sheriff’s Office investigation into the allegations
In a statement released by District Attorney Tuck McLain, he says a consensus could not be reached by the 12 member grand jury. In order for charges to be filed, nine members of the grand jury must agree to indict a person.
The woman accused of the inappropriate relationship was not a teacher of the student, but was a teacher with the Iola School District. The district attorney went on to say that the former teacher was 22-years-old and the student was 18-years-old.
The former teacher has surrendered her teaching credentials, meaning she will never again be able to teach in a private or public school in Texas.
