JACKSON RELEASES STATEMENT ON

Walter Jackson smallBrenham’s school superintendent has responded to a federal directive regarding transgender restrooms.

Late Friday, Dr. Walter Jackson releases a one-sentence statement, saying, “The Brenham ISD will continue to follow the traditional practices for restroom use that have been in place since its founding in 1875.”

The Obama administration has told public schools across the nation that they must allow transgender students to use bathrooms and locker rooms consistent with their gender identity.

The directive is being sent to school districts Friday by the departments of Education and Justice.

The letter does not impose any new legal requirements, but federal officials say the guidance is meant to clarify school districts' obligations to provide students with nondiscriminatory environments.

It comes amid a legal fight between the Justice Department and North Carolina over that state's law on bathroom use by transgender people. The state and the federal government sued each other on Monday.

  1. Maybe we should worry more about the students that will lead our city and county governments in the future. It seems that most can’t write a simple sentence anymore. They don’t know how to punctuate nor spell. It’s really hard to read a paragraph without commas, periods, exclamation points. And soon, they won’t be able to write cursive either. What’s more important.. to learn these things or wonder where they’re going to use the bathroom and which one will they use. Everything is so messed up nowadays. I feel sorry for the future of our grandchildren and great-grandchildren. I would like to be around to find out, but I think God has other plans for me.

  2. I agree with ENOUGH !!!!! The NORMAL. WORKING CLASS PEOPLE have to put up with this. Come on, put your big girl or big boy panties on and live up to the choices you made or were dealt. Bruce Jenner is a shame to society !!!!!

    1. I AGREE WITH YOU ! Our Male Bi-Centennial Olympian now goes into the Ladies restroom!
This is the man that once represented our county! Who is now a WOMAN and America ACCEPTS his changes at 66yrs old !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  3. Mr. Obama again dictates what the American public should believe and do when he does not have the authority to do so. At this point in time being transgendered is not a protected class under the federal law he is trying to use to again to force his will down the throats of the American public by blackmail and the threat of taking money from our children.

This is not a new issue but it appears to have been a none issue that school districts have been handling for years successfully. Less that 25% of 1% of the American population identifies themselves as being transgendered and because of that the other 99% are being dictated to by a president who believes he knows better that everyone else. Mr. Obama America is not a dictatorship but is supposed to be a free country. If this issue needs to be addressed then lets have a national vote on the best way to deal with the issue.

They did it in Europe and discovered that the majority of the population there did not want boys going to girls bathrooms and vise versa. Their solution was male bathrooms, female bathrooms, and a third bathroom that was available to everyone regardless of their sex that needed more privacy, etc. It is what most stores, schools, etc., already have and it is called in this country a family restroom.

Since these family restrooms already exist then I see no reason to even address this issue or make it a such a big deal at this point unless it is supposed to distract the American public for something more important like choosing the right person for president that understands how not to be a dictator. Just more smoke and mirrors from the current administration!

    1. Smoke and Mirrors is exactly correct! We have a president who loves chaos and ignores the Constitution! Horrible Path for America! Majority of people don’t agree with transgender rights and gay marriage! Obama said change and we r getting it!

  4. Great…Do not spend a cent of taxpayer dollars on accommodations for this. Just because someone has some mental issue and identity crisis, does not warrant tax payers to jump through hoops to satisfy their problem. This Bruce Jenner bandwagon has got to stop. Normal people have rights too and they dont involve having to deal with stuff like this, and especially not funding it. Get a counselor, go see a shrink, but this Tranny and Gay obsession the media is running with is ridiculous. People that served and fought for this country have got to be rolling over in their graves with all of this. Enough is Enough….

  5. What has this world come to? When did an individual’s chosen behavior become a civil right in need of protection?

  6. “ilk ruining this nation”?

Right, I’m sure trans people and other ‘ilk’ were politically steering the country during the past 2-decades of economic recession, warfare, and greed…or the decades leading up to it.

Or was that GenX and BabyBoomer?
You tell me, you’re among them.

  7. I am the proud parent of a transgender child who is a student in BISD. By the way, there is more than one. My child has the support of their doctor and pastor, goes to church, and prays for those of you with cancer, dying loved ones, etc. My child volunteers locally every summer, babysits, and wants to have a career helping those less fortunate. No, God doesn’t make mistakes and God sent me this amazing child. My child is a child of God who has known from a very young age that who they are on the inside and outside didn’t match. Folks, being transgender was not my child’s choice-it’s how God made them. As my child says, “no one would choose to live this way”. To live with the daily bullying, the comments, the looks in the grocery store, it’s a nightmare. You can only imagine the things they have to deal with every day. Imagine how brave you have to be to go into that environment every day to get your education.
The real issue is bathroom use. My child doesn’t use either at school. They don’t use the women’s because they no longer identity with that gender and they don’t use the men’s for fear of being beaten up or raped. What we all want is for our children to be safe in any restroom. The solution is to add gender neutral restrooms throughout the school. The “family” restrooms have been a blessing to us.
So we implore to the school board and Dr. Jackson, please create gender neutral restrooms for the safety, health, and privacy of our students. I have withheld our names for our safety, but for those of you whose names I recognize, I’ll gladly introduce you to our brave and amazing child.

    1. There is normally a non-gender assigned bathroom at the nurse office. Surely the staff can offer some leniency to allow your child and those of similar concerns to use the facility without having to subject the rest of the students to the same concerns of being assaulted.

      1. The fact that you seem to believe that simply because someone is trans that they will assault other students shows why the rest of us need to work hard to be accepting of people that are misunderstood.

        1. It is not the true transgender that I am afraid of, it is the sick and twisted that try to use any means possible to get at our children. Yes a gender neutral bathroom would be ideal, but is that really feasible? I am sure it as with all the other issues out there-gays in scouts, gays on the pulpit, etc. It is just now coming to light but has been going on for years. I feel for your child, but I also worry about mine…..

        2. It is so frustrating when I read statements like the one above. People that believe they are “transgendered” are not and have never been the concern when it comes to assault. If you read the ACTUAL POLICIES coming out of places like Fort Worth ISD, those policies give open access to opposite sex facilities without any conditions, someone can simple decide they fill “trans” that day and go to the other bathroom. This is where the fear of invasion of privacy and assault comes from.

It should also be noted that when Title 9 was written and passed, those lawmakers had little knowledge of people who believe they are “trans” and there was zero legislative intent to provide any type of protection for this issue. For the administration to issue imperial decrees like the latest one out of the White House shows just how far we have fallen when it comes to respecting our system of laws.

        3. @Don’t Understand

The “fact” is that you inaccurately assumed that I suggested that a “trans” will assault “other students.” It’s not the “transgender students” that are the concern, it is those whom would take advantage of the policy to harm others.

    2. Your Child doesn’t HAVE to endure anything!! It’s a choice he/she makes.I don’t care what or who he identifies with and have no animocity towards him.He can dress like a boy/man for 8 hours a day while he is in school and use the mens restroom! I’m sick of this insanity…He does not care what chaos and division he causes, everybody has to jump through hoops to accomidate him…It’s a simple small enough thing to wear pants and use the mens restroom. If he is such a brave an amazing child then be brave enough to put the needs of the school and the other students first and then he can dress up or whatever he needs to do when he gets home.I’m sick of this state where EVERYBODY else has to accommodate him in a situation that will in no way harm him.

      1. My child doesn’t need to put on pants & go to the men’s room! SHE could be assaulted in there. Not all trans are men to women, mine is woman to man. Surprise! They do have to endure severe bullying every day to get an education. They also do not want any attention on them because it obviously causes a problem. My child does not want anyone to jump through hoops for them, they just want to live their life with the cards they were dealt. Stop assuming every trans is like Kaitlyn Jenner-most are exactly opposite.

        1. I really think there needs to be some serious counseling involved. I am sorry, this is a mind thing not a “oh I was born wrong” thing. I realize the media attempts to force this down the throats of people to accept, but it really is not right. I wish you the very best.

        2. Best wishes to your daughter. Brenham schools (and Brenham itself) have long been unaccomodating to outsiders of all types. Luckily, there’s a big, beautiful world out there.

Those making negative comments about a high schooler need to step back and examine their own lives and how they reached this sad, sad point.

Same for the bhs employees showing no empathy.

  8. Americas values changed drastically with my Clinton as president. But….Even I think that boys should go to the boys restroom and girls should go to the girls restroom.

  9. #STOP AMERICANISING JESUS
    He was a Jew.
    He was Palestinian.
    He was Brown.
    He was anti-colonialism.
    He was anti-cultural appropriation.
    He taught socialism and sharing.
He loved sinners, including prostitutes, tax collectors (thieves of the day), divorcées (sluts of the day) and murderers.
Some of the people he respected and loves the most were women.
    He was for racial equality.

He was NOT apple pie, white, blond, capitalist, meninist, anti-immigrant, shaming, antisemitic, racist, gay-bashing,

    1. Jesus didn’t teach about half the things you just listed.

And yes, He loves everyone equally, but also told them to follow Him and sin no more.

And technically, Jesus is a Theocratic Monarchist. And considering that He learned he carpentry trade, He likely has no problem with capitalism.

If you’re so against capitalism and “colonialism”, then stop using the things that came from it.’like your phone and computer.

    2. Jesus is God! He wants people to work and not get free handouts all the time! He did not make people to be transgender! Read the Bible people! Yeah we all sin a lot! But celebrating sin like gay marriage pride parades! No way! God loves homosexuals but did not make them that way and wants repentance! America is headed down a very dangerous path! We must turn to God and know what the Bible says! Very clear!

  10. America is changing for the worse! This shouldn’t be a debate! Common sense! Wake up America! Freedoms r being destroyed fast! America will become a third world country at best soon! When God leaves like so many people want He takes His favor away! Look at other countries people! America is so vulnerable! Military cuts and deficits at 19 trillion! Christians r being persecuted and ISIS is setting up here! Curt Schilling says something against this and gets fired at ESPN!

  11. Thank you Dr Jackson for taking a stand for what’s right. Keep doing the right thing for our school district.

  12. For E.W. And like thinkers. You are right, God makes no errors, BUT Nature does, it is NOT perfect. Unfortunately, the largest employer (state school) is full of examples. Nature itself is full of variations, and those characteristics are NOT all visible. Did they choose to have their issues? No. Biology 101,(assuming you were paying attention) tells us why, self educate please.

  13. What is right is to provide clean restrooms for all. Either add a gender neutral one or allow those who identify as trans to use the facility they relate to.
This is not 1875. We have moved forward as a society and the schools are where this should be supported.

    1. Anyone can “identify” themselves “transgender,” including sexual predators, pedophiles, or anyone who can (and will) exploit the situation for their personal endeavor. This has nothing to do with discrimination, it has to do with protecting the rights of potential victims.

  14. Just a question for thought in regard to the sharing of restrooms, locker rooms:
What about those persons who “pretend” to be transgender for the sole purpose of voyeurism (now having access to the opposite gender’s bathroom & locker room facilities)?
How does one determine the legitimacy of transgenderism, since I’m presuming one will be prohibited from asking this “delicate” question.

As a pre-teen into my teen years, I was very self conscious dressing out in gym class in front of others of my own gender. Having someone of the opposite sex (albeit one who identifies with my gender) would have made me unbearably uncomfortable regardless.
I’m concerned our young people are not psychologically prepared for this in their developmental stage.

I personally feel that a separate private bathroom and/or dressing area (locker room) should be available to those simply to avoid embarrassment for everyone concerned. However I’m sure there are those who would find this a form of segregation and discrimination.

    1. If you took the time to read what Obama said about Title IX they are not talking about making accommodations to some boy looking the sneak a peak in a restroom. The parents must come to the school with the student. The student must be actively living life as the opposite sex (for example going by another name). You could not have a boy show up one morning and request to use the girls locker room. It is referring to trans kids that are well on the way to transitioning.

      1. children are not allowed by law to make the decision to have a sex change operation, A person has to be above the age of 18. Therefore in a school, all children should use the restroom that fits their current gender not what they hope to be.

  15. It’s not hard people. If you have boy parts you go to the boys restroom. If you have girl parts you go to the girls restroom. If you are confused about that then I suggest you get some Godly counsel.

      1. Pretty simple until you see that cute girl in the poodle skirt and bobby socks headed into the men’s room. Then what? Form a posse and head ‘er off at the pass? Hogtie and go in for the upskirt examination? Get real. It’s legal for them to dress and ‘pass’ as whatever gender they please, which is the real issue most of these commenters have with this directive, so forcing them to use the bathroom assigned to their ‘natural’ gender only forces even more awkward situations to arise.

  16. Thank you, Dr. Walter Jackson!
We are a world spiraling towards a prophesied end / beginning & it is past time that we stand *together* on the side of Right.
I pray for God’s blessings to be poured out on you, your family & all who stand with you/us.

  17. Why is it so hard for the school district to put an extra bathroom. Let’s be the only School District in Brenham Texas that builds an extra bathroom 4 transgender and all this problem we’re having with just go away.

    1. Please pay attention. It’s the trend that is the problem, not one action by itself.
Politically correct is running a mock.

    2. No problem there as long as you pay for it out of your pocket. I can’t see paying taxes to fund a third bathroom for someone who could just a well dress according to how they were born for the 8 hours a day they are at school. I hate wearing dress clothes, but that is what my employer makes me wear while I am at work. I have no say in the matter. I am more comfortable in shorts and a tshirt or jeans and a tshirt, but that is not what I can wear.

  18. GOD makes no mistakes. GOD made man and woman. PEROID. A man wanting to be a woman and vice versa and is a CHOICE. We that believe the way we are created do not have to accept others choices. What’s wrong with this country is that we recognize that the world changes but fail to realize the bible is and still remains the same

  19. Once again it AMAZES me! How stupid people are and just ignorant to the fact that Trans people have come a long way…but I forget the HILLBILLIES OF BRENHAM wouldn’t know because we are stuck in 1875! Gets keep up with the 21st century

    1. To this day health professionals cite transvestites as having a mental illness. BHO is pushing the LGBT agenda against the norm. All this would lead to is chaos in the schools with boys pretending to be girls just to get the peep show.

I’d rather be a ‘Hillbilly of Brenham’ than a member of the ilk ruining this nation. Oh, ‘Anonymous’, my name is John Deans…

      1. First, transvestite and transgender are different. But, I mean, who needs to be factually correct on these issues, right?

Second, “boys pretending to be girls just to get the peep show” says a whole lot more about these boys than it does the transgendered kids just trying to use the restroom. Shame on those boys.

    2. Another “faceless coward” rant. Highway 290 and 36 run both ways.

      1. Pretty sad to see this coming from a school board member. Thankfully history isn’t on your side.

        1. Actually, it’s great to see this coming from a school board member and our superintendent. They are representing the majority of this community and history is on our side. Throughout history, BISD and the rest of this great nation has recognized that boys are boys and girls are girls. Boys use the boys restroom and girls have used the girls restroom. Boys play on boys teams and girls play on girls teams. Boys shower in the boys locker room and girls shower in the girls locker room. That is the reality of history….and it’s worked pretty well.

These new transgender “rights” are nothing more than the left attempting to push more of their confusion on everyone else. It the new face of their war on the family. The goal isn’t to prevent discrimination. The goal is to indoctrinate and force their confusion on everyone else. They want your kids to accept their confusion and embrace it. God’s plan is for families to grow strong with one man and one woman committed to each other for life. The left is committed to the destruction of the family through whatever means necessary: welfare, financially rewarding single mothers, abortion, gay marriage, gender confusion, etc.

You want to talk about the “war on women?” Well here it is and the Democrats are leading the charge.

      1. Transgendered know which bathroom to use, however, unlike the transgendered… cis aren’t +50% more likely to get physically assaulted.

  20. Duh, which means that we have no restroom policy other than the posted gender signs that we have always had, and it works ok. Political hay just made and consumed. Maybe the public that is worried about this subject need to volunteer to be restroom cops. Will give them something to talk about at their next beer bust or cocktail party. Oh, by the way, for several decades, lots worse stuff goes on in those restrooms other than methods of waste elimination.

  21. Thank you, Dr. Jackson, for being a man of honor. Your brief but precise statement is refreshing!
