JAILER ARRESTED, INDICTED AND FIRED

  

A Washington County jailer  has been arrested and fired over charges of official oppression.

          The 21st district court grand jury indicted Jailer Christopher Kulow for a complaint from an inmate of the county jail saying the jailer assaulted in during an incident on August 28th

          Kulow was placed on administrative leave pending an investigation.  The Texas Rangers conducted a criminal investigation and the results of that investigation were turned over to the grand jury.  Sheriff Otto Hanak says now the entire investigation is in the hands of the district attorney’s office with the help of the Texas Rangers.

          Kulow was arrested on Friday and is in the county jail under a $4000 bond.  Washington County Sheriff Otto Hanak says he has fired Kulow from his position.  Hanak further says that is his goal to preserve the integrity and the credibility of the Sheriff’s Office  The sheriff says he cannot provide any further details because the criminal investigation continues.
