JASON GURKA GETS “THE CALL”
A former Brenham Cub baseball star is about to become a big-leaguer.
Chappell Hill native Jason Gurka has been called up to the Colorado Rockies.
The left-handed reliever has joined the team in time for their three-game weekend series in Pittsburgh.
At Triple-A Albuquerque, Gurka is 5-1 with a 2.86 earned run average. In 35 appearances he’s struck out 53 batters in 63 innings pitched.
Gurka started out the 2015 season in Double-A New Britian, and was promoted to Albuquerque on June second.
Gurka is a 2006 graduate of Brenham High School, and was drafted by the Baltimore Orioles out of Angelina Junior College in 2008.
