JEFFERSON AWARD WINNER TO BE FEATURED SPEAKER AT NEXT LADY LIONS MEETING

The July 27 meeting of the Ladies Lions Club is held at the Cannery at Noon in downtown Brenham, and will feature Judy Webb LeUnes, 2015 Jefferson Award Winner as the featured speaker.

LeUnes was also one of the 7 Jefferson Award Winners, being selected to represent Brazos Valley in Washington DC- where she met with Senator John Cornyn.

LeUnes is well known to events that benefit from her fundraising talents: “Bra Event” for $27,000 the first year, “No Shave November” for prostate cancer- with proceeds to Health for All, “Weiner Fest” for Aggieland Humane Society 1999 and Brazos Valley Rape Crisis Center.

LeUnes is a member of the College Station Noon Lions Club, past Director and State Trainer for Lion officers and club fundraising.  She is also involved with  Safe Harbor, Pride Community Center President, BCS Chamber of Commerce, Legislative Affairs Committee, College Station ISD Education Foundation, College Station Parks Board, Pre-Natal Clinic ‘You’re the Tops” award, African American Museum for the outstanding service/support award and Teacher of the year award at Oakwood Intermediate School for several years.

LeUnes is past president of the board of the Aggieland Humane Society and the College Station Education Association.  She is involved with the Community Center and serves as a Safe Harbor volunteer, works with the College Station Parks Department and the College Station Lincoln Center.

LeUnes received the Texas A&M Diversity Award and the Phyllis Frye Award, and has been involved in public education, with a consulting business that works in school districts- coaching teachers and administration to improve student engagement and facilitate school change for the past 10 years.  Prior to that she taught for 30 years in Hearne and College Station.

The public is invited to attend, reservations are not required.
