WEST JEFFERSON STREET EXPECTED TO REOPEN THURSDAY

The West Jefferson Street water crossing over Higgins Branch creek is expected to open to traffic today (Thursday).  City Engineer Lori Lakatos said that the roadway should re-open with temporary side rails while the permanent ones are being fabricated.  The water crossing was closed in September of last year after it was damaged by the heavy rains of Hurricane Harvey and the flooding in May of 2016.  The nearby Higgins Branch crossing at Burleson Street remains closed to traffic as the contractor continues to rebuild it.  Lakatos said it is expected to be completed in early March.

  1. Brandon I Agree!. I live in that neighborhood and it took way longer than it should have. But they can build a house in a day…Wow.

  2. Can someone explain what took so long to complete these projects? They just don’t seem like 6 month projects to me
