JULY SEES NO RELIEF IN UNEMPLOYMENT RATE

  

The unemployment rate for the area creeped up again in July, magnifying the effects of the layoffs at businesses around Brenham.

July’s unemployment rate for July was 5.5 percent, up from 5.3 percent in June, a .02 percent increase.

This rate is the same as July 2014 rate of 5.3 percent.

In Austin County, the unemployment rate for July was 4.8 percent, up .02 percent from June’s unemployment rate of 4.6 percent and down 0.3 percent from July 2014 rate of 5.1 percent.

In Burleson County, the July unemployment rate was 4.8 percent, remaining the same as the June rate, and down .05 percent from the July 2014 rate of 5.3 percent.

In Grimes County, the unemployment rate was 5.7 percent, which is 0.2 percent higher than the June rate of 5.5 percent, and 0.3 percent higher than the July 2014 rate of 5.4 percent.

For the entire Brazos Valley, the unemployment rate for July was 4.3 percent, identical to the June rate, and 0.7 lower than the July 2014 rate of 5.0 percent.

  1. Yeah this is bad for local and America! Jobs r being lost and stock markets r way down! Global recession is gonna happen they r saying! Wouldn’t be surprised at all! America economy is in big trouble!

    1. We have less jobs in America because China and Mexico have taken them. And don’t forget the jobs that illegal aliens are taking from the 93 million Americans that are unemployed!!!
