  1. I have never seen 70+ comments about any story on this website before. This story has stirred up an incredible amount of interest and comment in our community yet we are not seeing any comment from the school administration or school board about the issues being raised here. While it is probably not reasonable to expect comments about this specific case, where is the school’s reaction to the many concerns about the erosion of discipline and order in our schools; the low teacher moral; the curriculum issues; and the other things talked about in the many comments here. Our school administration and school board should be out front leading and addressing these issues and yet the silence is deafening!

  2. I own several different properties in Washington county and pay a large sum of school taxes each year, kids like this one really make me mad. Seems to me that we are wasting money on these kids that don’t won’t to learn and disrespect there teachers and the other students that want to learn. These trouble makers do not need to be in our schools they need to be in a boot camp to be taught respect toward others maybe this will also keep them out of prison because that is where they are headed.

  3. Everyone needs to stop inserting their own assumptions and just sit back and let the investigation take its course….I worked for BISD for 4 years and my first year a middle school students went on a rage to attack another student and when I attempted to stop the assult I was violently pushed by the male student and I suffered a bruised pelvic….the bruise covered from hip area to mid pelvic area…..There are those of yall that are judging this man’s natural instinct to protect himself and as a current teacher I am disgusted to know how many of yall have little respect and no regards for the profession and what we endure…..as a matter a fact those of yall bashing this man are probably the parents of these out of control children…all I have to say is RAISE YOUR KIDS AT HOME….TEACH THEM HOME TRAINING so that when they do go out into society they know and understand the norms that they are expected to display as productive members of society…..all nd I’m sorry but I would take the statements of the other kids that were in that ISS room with a grain of salt because kids will stick together….I have seen some of you who have posted that you all have had previous complaints against the said student who assult this teacher and all I ask is that you please get involved and go to the police with any or all information that you may have about the said students behavior because quite frankly I’m tired of reading how people are trying to make this boy out to be a saint…..I have 2 kids and I’m raising mine and mine would have NEVER EVER EVER done anything to be placed in ISS nor would they ever cross the line to be disrespectful or act aggressive because they know better….RAISE YOUR KIDS PEOPLE AND QUITE EXPECTING EDUCATORS TO DO YOUR JOB….our job is to teach but it’s impossible when we have to discipline or deal with aggressive behaviors….

    1. I am a momma of three and I work HARD and diligently to raise all of my kids right. They are respectful and well behaved as can be expected of children . That being said, they make mistakes and they learn from them. Even as adults, we make mistakes, but ALL do not learn from them. I am on my second kid in BJH. When my first one was there, he had problems with a teacher there. When my mom and I went to speak to said teacher (I had just gotten out of the hospital and couldn’t be alone) said teacher screamed at us and pushed my mom. I was shocked and outraged. Needless to say, nothing was done and I had pull my kids from the classes that the teacher was or would teach. My point is that the majority of teachers are great and they have a hard row to hoe. But there is that small majority (yes here in Brenham) that should not be anywhere around children. Our children should always come first. They are the future. There are definitely some kids in BISD who are way out of control. They need to be dealt with and kept away from the kids who are doing what they are supposed to be doing. My kids come home (even my middle schooler) telling me things things that happened or things that were said that would have me leaving any establishment I was visiting. So sad.

      1. I doubt very seriously that a teacher pushed your parent during a face to face meeting. If this happened, how was the said teacher disciplined?

        1. The teacher did in fact push my mom. My mom and I filed separate complaints (me for the way my son was treated; my mom for being pushed) and we took our complaints all the way to the school board. We found out that IF a teacher is written up, it goes with the principal when he leaves and it could be gone after a year. With my complaint, I received nothing for the way my son was treated. My mom’s complaint resulted in a decision by the school board to give this teacher a permanent write up in her file. This was a long process and we started at the bottom with the principal and worked our way up to the school board.

    2. If it were up to me, when your kid gets in trouble at school, parents should get fined money $$ Maybe this would get their attention. When did kids stop respecting teachers (and law enforcement for that matter)? When my son was in high school, I took off work to sit in the back of the class because he was “talking too much”. I wish parents would get more involved with parenting young people as they are our future. What if everyone in the world did not follow the “rules” where would we be? And think about this, what if people stop becoming teachers because it is no longer the rewarding career it used to be? Parents would either have to home school or pay for private school. Wake up parents, get involved and raise your kids to be respectful productive assets to society.

      1. I applaud this approach. I did the same thing to my son when he was in Jr. High in another school district. That is all it took for the disrespectful behavior to stop.

  4. Well to everyone who don’t know the story just back off, because y’all are just making rumors. If it was you that got hit with the bat you wouldn’t want people going around saying something not true so just stop!!

  5. From a teachers aide experience at BJHS , administrative staff donot help or back up teachers and aides. The kids at brenham junior high are out of control, just like a prison. There is not enough control and dicipline and consequence. I’m sure it’s that way at other schools! What are we gonna do???? These kids are our future!?The parents aree gonna have to be the first to get them in line because that’s where they are learning this behavior and obviously not correcting it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!lets get with this PIT YOURSELF IN THE TEACHERS AND STAFFS SHOES

  6. Right on, “wife as a teacher”. You have said what many think and know. Children with behavior problems due to NO parenting, should be permanently excluded from the regular classroom and placed permanently in alternative classrooms. My granddaughter will be in private school thru grade twelve. Why? Because the administrators do not have the backbone to do what needs to be done. The taxpayers are not getting their moneys worth. Wake up school board! You know this has been the issue for decades and it is getting worse.

  7. I taught in Brenham not too long ago, and am not surprised that this happened in Brenham. In my time there I know of at least 6-7 instances where students attacked teachers, but somehow the administration keeps this hush hush and no one hears about it so everyone in town can think they are living in their perfect little community. And the consequence for attacking teachers is 20 days AEP and then right back to the same classroom of the teacher that was attacked. About two years ago there was an instance where they had to increase security at the high school in fear of a gang war breaking out. And yes there were weapons confiscated at the time. This is not the same Brenham that most of us grew up in.

  8. Those of you that are saying your child told you the story . I’m sure they don’t know the full story . My sister was there and so were a handful of other kids . Officers could go to the school and pull out every child that was in ISS at the time , positive you’ll get the same story. All you adults think that it was ok for mr lattimore to result in to using a bat is wrong. “A BAT” you guys a BAT . Which he hit the child with several times , the child cried for him to stop and he KEPT HITTING HIM . He know what he had did that’s why he ran. If he thought the child was truly giving him problems (which the child really wasn’t) there is a OFFICER ON CAMPUS he could have called

    1. Police officers are on campus to deal with threats and disturbances that are a violation of the law, not to handle school discipline problems; that is the the job of the educators. The problem is with the parents and children. The parents have let their children get away with whatever they want and have not been taught to respect authority. Then the kid cries to the parents when the teachers attempt to discipline the child or expects him to act appropriately in the school setting. Consequently, the teachers get fussed at by the parents and the administration, thus, the teachers have given up. Parents need to be parents and teach their children values and respect; the school’s job is to educate, not parent. And it’s not the job of the law enforcement office of campus to handle routine school disciplinary issues.

  9. All of you that are saying mr lattimore was defending his self from getting “beaten” this is a lie mr lattimore was the one doing the beating! Stop thinking just because the child was in ISS that he “deserved ” it. Y’all act as if these kids are criminals they’re growing up instead of bashing them try helping them!! I know of the child and his family his mom is a very nice lady and he’s a great kid , maybe a few distruptions in class but he shouldn’t deserve this! School & church is a place children should go to feel safe , away from harm but sadly these days you can’t go to neither without the fear of what could happen to you or your child!

  10. I cannot speak to this specific situation other than to say that I am sure there are two sides to this story, and they both should be evaluated before a conclusion is reached. There likely is a lot more to this story than is known now.

My wife is a teacher at Krause Elementary and I have never seen her more frustrated with the complete and total lack of discipline on campus. Some kids are completely out of control and the school administration does nothing to assist or help the teachers maintain order. Trips to the office are useless, the behavior specialist thinks handing a sticker to a kids makes them want to behave better, and meanwhile the inmates really are running the asylum. The morale within the teaching ranks is as low as I have ever seen and teachers who really love kids and teaching are starting to look for work outside the profession because the parents never believe their little angels could ever do anything wrong, and the administration does nothing to support the teachers. The curriculum they are being forced to use is ineffective and does not work, respect for teachers and classmates is not required, and they think every child no matter how violent or disturbed belongs in a classroom with the other kids. If something is not done to regain control and order in the schools we are headed for a tragic situation. Something must be done!

    1. I think cameras in all classrooms are inevitable and I wish everyone would calm down until this investigation is over. All this speculation is not fair to either party.I do however think teachers are raising our children these days instead of the parents and that is very sad. When I was growing up, kids did not disrespect any adult, and if you got in trouble at school, you got in more trouble at home. Teachers have a hard job in my opinion. I hope the truth comes out quickly.

      1. I have to agree that cameras would not be a bad a idea from a security perspective, but that could cause many issues if the principals use them as an additional tool to micromanage. The micromanagement of this terrible curriculum they have has gotten out of control My wife is not only being told what to teach but actually what to say. They are turning professional educators into puppets on a string.

Those that have to teach to the state test have it even harder. They have to meet extremely high expectations but are not being given the tools and the support they need to meet their goals. Fortunately my wife is not one that has to teach to that test.

  11. There’s 2 portables that the ISS room has been in at the beginning of the year it was in the left portable & mr lattimore had the bat leaning next to his desk everyday. Later in the year they moved ISS to the right portable and mr lattimore moved all the desks and cabinets he also moved the bat over to that room too this time he kept the bat laying right on the side of his chair (in reach). If you ask me he had intentions of using this bat one day . There would be no other reason to have the bat in there , they don’t play baseball in ISS or at campus on Brenham junior high school

  12. Students are already in fear of what other children will bring to school to harm them now they’re in fear of what a teacher will do to harm them . This is a sad story no adult at school should beat a child with a weapon I don’t care who the child is , if you’re a ISS teacher and you can’t handle the more difficult children then maybe you shouldn’t be an ISS teacher .

  13. not all students that are in iss are “animals” 90% of them are in there for tardies . I’ve been in ISS this year and last year when mr lattimore was there he always picked on kids and acted aggressively with them I hated when I had to go in there . Last year a student got angry and told mr lattimore stop messing with him mr lattimore replied “what you want to do? I stay ready ” implying that he’s always ready to “fight” . the student then went and sat in the office because he couldn’t deal with mr lattimores behavior towards him. Most children that have been in a room with mr lattimore are not surprised something like this happend

    1. You are not supposed to enjoy going to ISS! It is a punishment. If it were fun, it would serve no purpose. He is obviously doing his job if you hate going there! Now try staying out of ISS and you won’t hate it!

  14. He used to help me in class when I was in junior high and my niece also goes and she told me they story, sadly the kids don’t like him and don’t want him there so they’re making a story and sticking to it so he won’t come back. I pray for him because he was an awesome teacher just a little hard on us at time but he really cared.

  15. We have a 8 yr old grand, big for his age and experiencing some social acclamation issues due to some form of atisum. He has been disruptive at times. This is not the schools fault and I wonder if it is proper that he be allowed to effect the normal learning processes. Life is not fair and parenting is not for cowards. We as parents have an obligation insist our children not think they have a right to act a fool in society. Who allowed this child to grow up thinking he/she had a right to disrupt class, who made Iss acceptable in their mind.

  16. I see all this talk about who touched who first, the teacher’s aide probably had one too many dealings with this kid and just snapped. The emotional labor of working in situations like this day to day have to take a toll on the instructors.

  17. I personally was a student at BJHS in fact I was in and out of iss with Mr. Lattimore. I have never had a reason to believe my safety was in jeopardy. Yes he was hard on. us but never layed a finger on us. I have seen him handle very disruptive students before. WITH OUT TOUCHING THEM. So I know there was way more to the story

  18. After teaching for many years at BJH, it has always been my opinion that an ISS room should always be equipped with a certified teacher and an aide. Leaving one person in there whether certified or not is putting the adult in jeapordy. These children are totally out of control and come from very disfunctional families. They do not function properly in any type of setting. If they did, they would not be there. Oh, and it is important for them to pass the STARR test. Yeah right. The administrators need to confront parents and the manner in which their children behave. I can see why many administrators hesitate to carry this out since the apple does not fall too far from the tree, even if it is on a hill. Bottom line, these type of students need to be isolated and not be given an opportunity to go back into the regular classroom to disturb the students that want to learn. Not to mention the teachers. They are always placed on the back burner. If they can not follow directions, respect and behave they belong in the woods. I am sure they will survive.

    1. If the tree was on a hill, wouldn’t the apple roll away from the tree. In other words the apple WOULD fall far from the tree.

      1. No! Not necessarily because there could be a big Boulder (rock) to stop the apple. What I am trying to say basically is that the parents are not much better. Children learn from their parents. My words said, “even if it on a hill.”

    2. I am a former teacher of BISD, and have been injured over 10 times within my tenure there. I know the accused personally; however, it has no bearing on what I’m about to say. Resorting to hitting with a bat was extreme; nevertheless, CPI and no other restraint will subdue a violent kid, and other ISS students will LIE to cover for each other. Then, all administrators want to know is…………..what the employee could’ve done different. The behavior specialist and others will come by for a “look” and “show and tell” to make the situation look okay, but it never goes away. I can speak to this situation personally (being that I suffered broken body parts and severe bruising over the years). The old cliche “I’m not talking what I heard but what I know” is very real. BISD has a problem not wanting to talk about the “white elephant” in the room because of $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$. I honestly feel sorry for those who have to work (at not just BJH) but mainly BHS and take the abuse for the sake of having to take care of their families. I asked for a incentive pay from the BISD Special Ed Director as well as a change in title if this is what my job was going to entail (at least I would feel like I was appreciated), but she turned sour towards me real quick and didn’t even show up when I was sent to the emergency room. The former superintendent showed up before she did, and she never did call to check on me. All she was worried about was sweeping it under the rug. My former coworkers and new staff are taking physical, mental, and emotional abuse like never before, and it’s ridiculous! It’s disheartening to try to teach any class with all of the disrespectful children who are supported by both administration and parents (all in fear of being a public spectacle). Bottom line is, if we don’t get back to sparing the rod; there’s going to be a tragic turn of events in not only BISD but all districts. No one gets paid enough to take the abuse from these kids (special ed/general ed). Yes, I’ve been trained and hold several degrees, but fearing for your life is a personal encounter no one can speak on until you “walk a mile in our shoes.” So thankful for being appreciated now in a new district because I don’t even have to blink twice before mine are hauled away for not even being aggressive but just profanity! I have 3 teenagers, and have been to their campus (in another district) to spare more than the rod because grown folk have authority over them; not the other way around. I know how they can get “out of line” at home, so I don’t hesitate when the teacher calls me about their behavior. Our kids do things behind our backs to impress other kids! Somebody gets the idea………………….Praying that God intervene and wake BISD up before the next story not have a glory ending of the kid returning to school the next day……..it’s so old…………it stinks!

  19. We need to hear teacher side of the story, because I can see student attacking him, teacher was just defending himself. I know he shouldn’t have used a bat but what can you do when your getting punched and kid is not backing down?
They really need to investigate because there’s more to this…..
    Just saying….

  20. I’ve spoken separately with every child that was in the room at that time they all have the same story . Mr latimore pushed the child first the child was protecting his self I don’t care how bad or good a child is no adult at any school should have the right to beat a CHILD with a bat and mr latimore knew what he did because he ran into the gym after beating the child!

    1. Really? Are you sure they are not afraid to tell the truth? I’m sure that student will be allowed to stay in school and he may get back at them if they tell on him.

      1. I’m sure that each one of those students in there have been in there multiple times and will probably be there again in the future. Of course they’re all going to stick with one story if each of them don’t like the guy. Students these days (especially at BJHS & BHS) are not as innocent as their parents think they are. Ignorance is bliss I guess. Being a former student I have seen scenarios where students have a complete LACK of respect for authority. It is sickening. He may have been mean but wouldn’t anyone who is stuck in a portable building with bad teenagers?

    2. My child was in the ISS room and he said This kid assaulted the teacher first and when the teachers tried to call the office the gentlemen grab the phone from him !!! So how else could the teacher get help ??? This kid is known to be aggressive disrespectful and had been in and out of AEP and ISS , if anybody is responsible is the school Administration for allowing this kids back in school to be around a other kids and staff .

  21. I know for a fact that teachers dealing with “problem” kids are required to go through training in order to deal with the situation. These methods include leaving, blocking, and restraint. Not baseball bats. If he was not trained, this aid had no business being in that ISS room. I personally have been in an ISS room, and there is no reason for this kind of unprofessional behavior. There are even laws in place to make sure that weapons are not brought on campus. It does not matter what the child’s past was. The fact is he was hit, with a lethal weapon, by a teacher. That is not okay, no matter who the teacher was. This is ridiculous.

  22. If this had been your kid would you feel the same I don’t think so I had heard many things about that iss teacher and what I heard he was not friendly to a lot of the student in iss and the ones who were not in iss

  23. I taught and worked with difficult students for 19 years. I NEVER resorted to physical force or violence. If a woman can handle these students, a gentleman should have the same control as an authority figure.

    1. I worked as correctional officer and am a teacher and have never resorted towards violence but I have had plenty of encounters with situations dealing with aggressive behavior and I did what I had to do to keep myself safe. The instinct that this teacher aide had to take a bat out to defend himself infers the aggressiveness the child was displaying towards him was violent and makes clear that he feared for his life.

  24. This day in time you can’t let your guard down with children. You hear of kids killing their parents and other students. So you think they want kill a teacher or teacher aid

  25. My child attends BJH and there is so much more to this story. The child in question was in and out of AEP last year and is very disruptive (I know this because he was in my child’s class). If someone throws a metal trash can at you and is trying to fight you, what do you do? I agree a baseball bat shouldn’t have been used, but what do teachers use to defend themselves? I’m not condoning how the teachers aide handled the situation, but there are two sides to every story. Now, the child’s parents will probably sue BISD and get a substantial amount of money. Money (we) the taxpayers will have to dish out in the end.

    1. There was no trash can thrown? so get tha story right the student did not touch him first to start the fight

      1. According to the statement made from a family member of the teachers aide, a trash can was thrown! Also, the same story can be found on Facebook. Thank you!

        1. Exactly a family member from him ? They’re lying there was no trash can thrown. And all of y’all saying that y’all no the story none of y’all were in there .

  26. This Kid is known to be aggressive and a trouble maker , the teacher should not get punish for self defense. Is there consequences for the kid also? ?? I myself have made several bully reports on this kid and the school has not done anything , if teachers are not safe what about the students.

    1. ok but did the student touch him first no so dont assume unless you were theree and see. It bc kids tend to add to the story

  27. I think there is much more to this story that has not come out. I doubt the teacher just grabbed a bat (which I don’t think they would keep something like that in a room of troublemakers anyways) and smacked the kid.

If the kid truly did come after the teacher I hope he gets what he deserves as well, although I doubt that would ever happen.

  28. I know this gentleman and he would not have acted out unless he was threatened. ISS kids are there because they are distributive and do not behave, so I am sure that this child is of the most innocent type and did nothing to warrant any type of punishment. I do not agree with the student being hit with a bat (which why in the world would there be a bat in any classroom especially ISS) but we don’t know the whole story and maybe the teacher’s aide was threatened and had to protect himself. Mr. Lattimore has my full support!

    1. I wonder if Mr. Lattimore would have your full support if it was your child that was hit TWICE with a baseball bat!!

      1. The kid probably deserved it and if it was my kid then yes I would b angry he got hit with a (bat) yes but maybe it will make him think TWICE again about throwing a trash can

      2. My kid wouldn’t have a reason to have been hit two times with a bat because my kid actually knows how to act.

      3. Have you ever been in a situation when a child comes at you in rage with a grown man mentality? What would you do? Hitting kids is not acceptable but a lot of kids nowadays are stepping out of kid roles and choosing to act like grown. I’m sorry but just as much as we preach student safety we should also expect the same for teachers cause we have loved ones we want to go home to too….What if the kid would have beat him with the bat? I guess then it would have been ok and everyone would have went on about their business.

  29. All ISS supervising adults should be armed and authorized with pepper spray. Non lethal and effective. If immature students are in ISS then they and their parents should expect it may be used. Parent and child would sign mandatory permission before admission to ISS, and / or no re-admission to school. And again parent should be required to take classes in effective parenting until student behavior is improved long term.

  30. Concerned parent maybe they play baseball during leisure time. I don’t know why the bay was there but I know other administration do a walk through so I am sure they would have said something. I use to be a jco for Giddings state school unless you been there in a situation you really don’t know what you would have done. My first instinct is to protect myself we are human beings.

  31. My question is Why was there a bat in ISS?? Is this standard to have a weapon in the ISS building.

  32. Innocent until proven guilty…..I am sure the student did not provoke the teacher in any way??! Does it justify being hit with a bat? NO! But this teacher could have feared for his life. And the student was in ISS so I’m sure he/she is not an angel!!

    1. So as an adult supervising a child, it is acceptable to condone violence with violence. This is a grown man! You can not tell me he can not defend himself against a child without resorting to beating him or her with a bat?!?!?

      1. These kids these days are not the same innoncent kids back then get a trash can thrower at you and see how your response would be. If you still alive

      2. Some junior high kids are not the small, young, respectful children we sometimes wish to think they are. Some of them are 6′ tall and 200 pounds. Even so, the smaller children can be extremely aggressive and physical if they choose to be. I would say, not knowing any of the facts, that one could reasonably choose to use a bat, or any other weapon for that matter, to defend himself against an attack from a “child”, if indeed the man was attacked. However, as mentioned by a previous commenter, there is likely much more to the story that we don’t, nor may ever, know. Just because it’s a junior high student doesn’t mean he can’t physically harm someone, nor does it mean that you cannot defend yourself in a manner you sit fit against the child. That said, I’m not drawing any conclusions, yet, as to who was the aggressor, but the man likely would not have been arrested if he were solely acting in self defense, regardless of the use of the bat to defend himself or not.

      3. “Resident” was not implying that the aid was in the right to exercise “violence” on the “child,” much less with a baseball bat, however, there are “children” at the Junior High that are as big, if not bigger than some of the adults, and if they act out aggressively towards you, you may have to react in turn as if they were an adult. Unfortunately we do not know the full story as to what was really going on; if the aid was on the defense or if he was the aggressor. I hope they elaborate this story further.

        1. Bottom Line is this man chose to strike another person with a baseball bat in a school setting and with him being the authoritative figure in this circumstance. This is not acceptable! People are making excuses for this man but if it was YOUR child that was struck with a bat, you just might be out raged at that point! No, it was not my child that was hit with a bat HOWEVER, I would like to send my children to school without the fear of the teachers being abusive towards them. It is bad enough that we have to worry about the other kids and their crazy behaviors but now we have to also have fear about what these adults are doing to our children. The full story of what the child did is not really my concern, because he or she is just that A CHILD and he or she has parents or a care giver (I would hope) to discipline them or furthermore the principle of the school which I am sure would not resort to beating the child with a bat. If this “man” was unable to control him self, his emotions or his reactions to a CHILD then I do believe he is in the wrong profession.

          1. We need to remember that juveniles now are nothing like those of just a few years ago. Now juveniles has no fear of the justice system and do not value the lives of others. Example recently of a juvenile being charged with capital murder in Brenham. Do not hasten to judge this teacher, a public servant on what is in this article because I’m sure this is not the whole story. I believe that any person has the right to defend themselves or another from an assault no matter what the age of the assailant. Disparity of force may well apply in this case.

          2. Have you ever been hit by a child? Or attacked? I have. And by a “child” bigger than me. Children are not always innocent. The whole story isn’t out, but I doubt that he was “disciplining” the child. He was reacting to being attacked.
And as far as your comment about it being the parents’ job to do the disciplining, you are exactly right. However, it’s obvious there isn’t much of that taking place, or said student wouldn’t be a frequent visitor to ISS! A bat may have been excessive, but had it been my child, they would have gotten in more trouble when they got home, for being aggressive towards an adult (or anyone for that matter)!
The problem is the lack of parenting. Instead of teaching children to be respectful, parents are trying to show they care by defending their kids even when they are wrong.

          3. Child shouldn’t be beat with a bat I agree but this specific child stepped out of just that, his role of a child and attacked another person….his actions cause fear in this man to the point where he felt he needed a bat to defend himself……teachers deal with rude and disrespectful mouths everyday from children but I don’t see nor hear of parents going to the school and apologizing g to the teachers or making the kids write letters or personally apologize to teachers for stressing them by having to deal with aggressive behavior……bottomline HOME TRAIN YOUR KIDS…..or at least start raising them to be product individuals in society because NO TEACHER deserves to put up with any type of rude, aggressive, or untasteful remarks from kids….

          4. Now for the record I am not making an excuse for mr. Lattimore but, I was a trouble maker growing up. In fact I as well was in and out of iss and mr. Lattimore was in fact my teacher. I have seen him time and time again deal with disruptive and physical students. With out getting physical ever so, for me to believe he would just up and hit a student 2 times for little to no reason is beyond me. I believe that student posed a real threat to him or another student. Another thing self control goes out the window when someone is going to try to hurt you. Big.. small… young..old.. i will NOT let you do so. The problem is parents that allow their child to act any kind of way and allow them to believe they are grown. When you take adult actions you receive adult consequences. That’s how I look at it anyways. You don’t have to agree but know mr. Lattimore was a good teacher. He has been at the schools for years I am currently 24 this was almost 10 years ago if not longer with no issuses. My brother has pushed grown men to strike him. I know for a fact kids these days are out of control.

          5. Your “bottom line” is an assumption that the aid had control of the situation. We don’t know what really happened, unless you know something that we don’t. However, I am going to have to disagree on your conjecture of a “child.” We just recently had two “children” arrested for murder here in town and one of them may be charged as an “adult” because of the severity of the crime….and again, I am not condoning disciplining with the use of a bat, but as “Former Teacher” pointed out, there is often a lack of discipline by their parents/guardian at home for these kids, and therefore they sometimes act out their complacent and obnoxious behavior without conscience. If the latter pattern continues, they get worse as they age.
