JUVENILES APPREHENDED FOR DESTROYING MAILBOXES

Sheriff Otto Hanak reports that sheriff’s deputies, while patrolling the Bluebonnet Hills subdivision discovered criminal activity that resulted in the apprehension of juveniles destroying several mailboxes. Deputies Jose Perez and Josh Myers were patrolling at 3:00 am this (Wednesday) morning when they noticed a suspicious vehicle and made a traffic stop.  There were three juvenile occupants in the vehicle and while they were questioning them, the deputies noticed an aluminum baseball bat on the rear floorboard of the vehicle.  The bat was consistent with the damage done to the mailboxes. The juveniles admitted to damaging the mailboxes and were taken into custody.  At the direction of Juvenile Probation they were released to their parents with a juvenile citation.

  1. I am glad to see they caught the culprits. Over the years I have had to replace numerous mailboxes. The damage always occurred over summer vacation. As far as I know, the ones who hit my mailboxes were not caught, but kids who do the wrong thing often enough get caught eventually. I expect the parents will be paying to replace the mailboxes.

    1. Sometimes good kids from good families make bad decisions. I’m hopeful these kids will learn their lesson from getting caught and facing the consequences. I’m sure these kids will be paying for the damage done out of their own pockets and get on with the rest of their lives being productive and not destructive.

      1. To parent almost sounds like one of the juveniles caught is your child. A simple SORRY would have been better than the post made about good kids from good families. If the parents were doing their jobs the the “good kids” wouldn’t have been out at 3 am doing crime. Should have been home in bed!

        1. Amen! Totally agree – there is absolutely no excuse for teenagers to be out at 3 am. I’m sick and tired of hearing parents excuse this type of behavior with the “Boys will be boys” type of excuse. Paying for the mailboxes does not remove the inconvenience of the whole ordeal. There should be a significant fine and many hours of community service added to the equipment replacement at the very least.
