KOLKHORST WISHING MERRY CHRISTMAS BUT HAS CONCERNS

District 13 State Rep. Lois Kolkhorst is wishing her constituents a ‘Merry Christmas’ but has some concerns.  The long serving Republican from Brenham says the ‘War on Christmas’ is real and the right to celebrate the holiday needs to be defended.  That’s what she said in a newsletter to her constituents.

State Rep. Lois Kolkhorst said in the news letter that ‘no matter what your religious beliefs may be, we can all agree the law recognizes and respects our First Amendment rights of religious freedom.  She says  some public schools in Texas ‘have not always agreed with that concept’ and actively restricted or prohibited even the acknowledgement or mention of Christmas on a school campus.

That’s why she says she welcomes the ‘Merry Christmas’ Law that passed in this year’s session of the state legislature.  Kolkhorst says this reinforces the First Amendment, by allowing schools to acknowledge the Christmas holiday, and allows students to wish each other ‘Merry Christmas.’

  1. “Merry Christmas” to all that celebrate the birth of Christ . . . like I do!

Thank you Rep. Kolkhorst for not being “afraid” to wish us a “Merry Christmas!”

We do need to defend our right to say “Merry Christmas”. Regardless, I will always say “Merry Christmas” versus “Happy Holidays.”

I think some folks have forgotten what Christmas is about and our right to celebrate it.
