KWHI HISTORY SEGMENT TO FEATURE ‘SPECTATOR’ FROM 1971

KWHI is celebrating 70 years on the air this month. Each day before the Country Store at 8:10 a.m., we will broadcast a portion of our past.

Today (Friday) we listen to a Spectator program from June 1971.

KWHI founder Tom Whitehead Sr. began his Spectator column in the Brenham Banner Press while he was the publisher of the newspaper. After he sold the Banner in 1962, Whitehead continued his daily commentary on KWHI.

In today’s recording, Whitehead goes over the channel lineup for the new TV Cable of Brenham Service, another company he founded. He also shares his views on a vote taken in the US Senate on withdrawing from the war in Vietnam.

The recording will be added to our website under the History tab later today in case you miss it.
