LA GRANGE ISD VOTERS TO CONSIDER $37.9 MILLION BOND ISSUE

Voters in the La Grange Independent School District will decide whether or not to pass a $37.9 million bond issue during the May 6th election this year.

The La Grange ISD Board of Trustees has voted to call the bond election.

The district says $32.5 million of the bond money will be used for improvements to the Hermes/Intermediate Campus including the creation of a two-story classroom wing for grades 1-4, a new media center, cafeteria, kitchen, administration and multipurpose room. There will also be renovations to the fine arts auditorium and the vocational/agriculture building.

The remaining $2.315 million would be used for improvements to the high school and middle school including a fine arts and band hall expansion as well as various repairs. The remaining money from the bond would be used to pay for improvements to the old Fayette Memorial Hospital building.

If voters approve the bond, it will bring the district’s total tax rate to $1.28. The average home in LGISD is valued at $134,000. If the bond issue passes, it would cost the average homeowner about $22.33 a month.
