LADY PANTHERS STAGE DRAMATIC COME-BACK WIN

The Burton Lady Panthers pulled out a dramatic 8-7 walk-off win Tuesday in district softball action.

The Lady Panthers (5-13/5-5) trailed North Zulch (13-9/5-6) 7-4 going into the bottom of the seventh.

Belen Miranda’s rbi-single cut the lead to 7-5.  Blair Smith then tied the game with a one-out two-run double, then ended the game when she raced home on a wild pitch.

Smith was 2-for-4, while Miranda, Tabitha Burke, and Mackenzie Wilke each collected two hits for the Lady Panthers.

Smith started the game in the circle for the Lady Panthers.  She pitched five innings, giving up six runs, seven hits, and striking out two.  Holli Baker earned the win. She went two innings, allowing one run, two hits, striking out one, and had no walks.

The Lady Panthers will host Normangee, Friday at 6:00 in a make up a an earlier rain-out.
