LAKE SOMERVILLE ENGINEERS EVALUATING TROPICAL STORM BILL EFFECTS

  

Engineers at Lake Somerville are evaluating the effects that Tropical Storm Bill has had in the Somerville area and Lake Somerville.

Due to the rains in the past few days, the gates at the dam are now closed. Water is currently not going over the spillway, which occurs at 258 feet. Reservoir Supervisor Emmitt Attaway says the current level at Lake Somerville is 256.16 feet. above sea level, eighteen feet above flood stage. The normal level for the lake is 238 feet.

Currently, all Lake Somerville Parks are closed, and the following information is being given to persons who have reservations in those parks:

Yegua Creek Park:  CLOSED: Reservations for sites 1-13, 17-19, and 42-83 in Yegua Creek Park have been cancelled through 31 July 2015 and NRRS should be contacting individuals to inform them of the cancellations. Individuals will be given a full refund and will not be charged a cancellation fee. Cancellations may be extended as the water recedes, damage assessed and repairs are being made. If these sites are able to be opened sooner, details will be posted on this website.

Rocky Creek Park: CLOSED: Reservations for all sites in Rocky Creek Park have been cancelled through 31 July 2015 and NRRS should be contacting individuals to inform them of the cancellations. Individuals will be given a full refund and will not be charged a cancellation fee. Cancellations may be extended as the water recedes, damage assessed and repairs are being made. If these sites are able to be opened sooner, details will be posted on this website.

Pecan Lake and Ironbridge Road Areas are closed due to water over access roads.

Birch Creek State Park and Nails Creek State Park are closed.
