UPDATE! LAKE SOMERVILLE ON THE RISE

Rains in its watershed area this weekend have caused Lake Somerville to rise over 12 feet in just over 36 hours.

As of 7 p.m. today (Monday), the water level at Lake Somerville was at 250.55 feet.  Normal level is 238 feet, which is where it stood Saturday morning before heavy rains began falling.  Lake Somerville rose as high as 259 feet above sea level in the flooding of May 2016.  The top of the flood pool is at 258 feet.  The U.S. Army Corp of Engineers, which operates the reservoir, is currently not releasing any water downstream through the flood gates.
