LENGTHY AGENDA AT COUNTY COMMISSIONERS MEETING

Washington County Commissioners had a lengthy agenda at their meeting this (Tuesday) morning.

Commissioners accepted a $49,000 grant for the Sheriff’s Office.  The grant will be used to purchase Active Shooter Incident Equipment, such as ballistic vests, shields and helmets.

Commissioners also approved the street closures in Chappell Hill for the annual Scarecrow Festival on October 14th and 15th.

Commissioners accepted Big Bird Lane into the counties Road and Bridge Maintenance Schedule.  The lane, located in Precinct 1 was part of a lengthy lawsuit where it was discovered that it was deeded to the county in 1928.  Now that the appeals to the lawsuit have ended, it was formally adopted as a county road.

Commissioners appointed Ralf Thiemer as the Election Judge for Voting Precinct 413.  Linda Hasten did hold that position, but because of her election to the Burton School Board, she can no longer serve.

Commissioners also approved a temporary above ground water line for GeoSouthern on Quail Run Road in Precinct 3.

Commissioners also heard a number of monthly reports from county agencies.  They also rescheduled next week’s meeting to Monday at 9:00 AM due to the majority on the court members attending the annual County Judges and Commissioners Conference in Corpus Christi.
