LIGHTNING STRIKES TWO OIL TANKS IN BURLESON COUNTY

  

Lightning stuck several oil tanks in Burleson County Wednesday.

Wednesday afternoon, a lightning strike caused one tank to explode and another to catch fire.

Firemen from the Somerville and Snook Fire Department responded to the fire on County Road 434.

The fire was contained to the oil well site and there were no injuries reported.

A second explosion in Burleson County, late Wednesday night shut down parts of FM 50 near County Road 264.

The explosion occurred just before midnight at FM 50 and County Road 264.

The Snook Volunteer Fire Department responded with aid from Cooks Point VFD, Somerville VFD, the Burleson County Office of Emergency Management, the Burleson County Sheriff's Office and DPS.

The well is shut down and crews are letting the fire burn itself out. Just after 3 a.m. the fire died down enough for crews to re-open FM 50.

The well is owned by Key Energy Services.

  1. Thank your local government, county government, state government when this oil tank explosion occurs at the new oil lease at lake Somerville. Thank you to the entire government entities that have endangered the drinking water that comes from lake Somerville.
