LOBOS FINDS 5 POUNDS OF COCAINE TAPED TO WOMAN

Fayette County K-9 officer Lobos made another drug bust on Monday, discovering 5.4 pounds of cocaine taped to a woman’s body.

Sgt. Randy Thumann and Lobos stopped a driver on Interstate 10 at the 658 mile marker around 1:40 p.m. for a traffic violation.

The driver, 41-year-old Linda Montiel, and passenger 24-year-old Pablo Ruiz, gave Sgt. Thumann different answers on their travel itinerary. Thumann felt strongly that the two were involved in transporting illegal narcotics from Laredo to Houston.

Consent was given to search the vehicle. While Lobos alerted to narcotics, he was unable to find them inside or outside of the car. Undeterred, Lobos and Thumann discovered 5.4 pounds of cocaine taped to Montiel’s body.

The drugs are estimated to have a street value of approximately $245,000.

Montiel and Ruiz were arrested for felony drug possession and taken to the Dan R. Beck Justice Center.
