LOBOS STRIKES AGAIN TAKING DOWN 27 KILOS OF COCAINE

Lobos with the 27 Kilos of Cocaine confiscated Friday, May 26th.

The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office released a Press Release midday today (Tuesday) reporting that their K9 drug unit, more commonly known as Lobos, struck down yet another trafficking operation:

Sheriff Keith Korenek reports that on Friday May 26, 2017 at approximately 1 p.m., the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Canine Unit, Sgt. Randy Thumann and K9 partner Lobos, stopped a Dodge Dakota on Interstate 10 at the 660 mile-marker for a traffic violation.

After contact with the driver, Sgt. Thumann observed many indicators of criminal activity and believed the driver was trafficking illegal narcotics from Mexico to Houston.

Consent to search the vehicle was given and “Lobos” was deployed to conduct an exterior sweep of the vehicle. Sgt. Thumann observed Lobos alert to the vehicle for the presence of illegal narcotics.

An aftermarket electrical compartment built in the rear wall of the truck was located. Sgt. Thumann accessed the compartment and removed approximately 27 kilos of cocaine. Also found packaged with the cocaine was what was believed to be Fentanyl, which is an extremely dangerous and fatal substance.

Juan Vasquez (34) of Laredo was arrested and taken to the Dan R. Beck Justice Center.

The estimate street value of the cocaine is approximately $2.7 million dollars.  The street value of the Fentanyl is unknown.

  1. Perhaps Sgt. Thumann and Lobos need to go train the Border Patrol Agents that are allowing all of these drugs into our country.

    Great job, once again!
