A Richmond man is free on $100,000 bond after his arrest Tuesday by Washington County Sheriff’s deputies.

According to Washington County Sheriff Otto Hanak, Ali was arrested after a lengthy criminal investigation by his office that led to the execution of two search warrants Tuesday afternoon at two businesses in the 4000 block of Highway 36 North.

Deputies found over 300 sealed packets of synthetic caniboids – known as KUSH – which is illegal in Texas.

Kush-Skittles-2016 (002)The packets, which range in size from 8-to-11 grams, has a total street value of over $12,000.  Deputies also seized a large amount of cash which investigators believe was from the sale of illegal drugs and paraphernalia.

Also confiscated was drug paraphernalia, including: smoking pipes, screens and grinders, commonly used with these type of synthetic drug.

Ali's bond had originally been set at $100,000 on each of the three felonies, but that was reduced to a total of $100,000.

Each of the three offense is a First-Degree Felony, with punishments ranging from 5-to-99 years, to life in prison and a $10,000.00 fine

Ali remains in the Washington County jail.

  1. I question how a “nice guy” if he is so nice would involve himself in anything like this. To many of these “C” stores often get involved in selling things that seem on the very edge of the law, and sometimes crossing the line. How about some ethics in business.

  2. Yes he is a nice guy but make no mistake he knew what was going on and how serious it was. The paraphernalia that he sells is no different than a lot of stores sell. Maybe they getting busted too.

  3. Free money man..I stop at his station daily he’s a genuinely nice person, he probably had no idea how serious the fake weed is in the eyes of the law.

      1. Good job BPD please continue to take these people off the street we have young children growing up that don’t need no kind of influence like this. Take them all down and a big Thanks in advance.

        1. He is NOT a nice guy and was all about making the money! I have personally gone to his store on multiple occasions begging him not to sell this to my husband because it was ruining our family. This man sold my husband 2 $40 bags a day, so you could say that he was just working to smoke. Thankfully, he was able to quit and hasn’t done the stuff in over a year… No thanks to this store owner!! I’m so glad that he was finally caught and hopefully justice will be served!! Sorry but he definitely knew what he was doing and was very aware that the stuff he was selling was destroying people lives and making people go crazy!! It’s just crazy to think how much money this man made if my husband alone was spending $400.00 a week! Thank you Brenham Police!!

          1. This was credited to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office not BPD…… Keep up the good work Otto!!!!!!!
