LOCAL GROUP TO FEED NATIONAL GUARD

Faith Mission and Neighbors Helping Neighbors will be preparing breakfast, lunch, and dinner for the National Guard, stationed in Brenham through September 30th at the Texas Army National Guard Armory.

Local officials say the initial call was received on Thursday afternoon from The National Guard to see if The Cannery Kitchen could have 115 meals ready.  The National Guard sergeants, Cannery Kitchen staff, and volunteers worked together to feed the 115 cadets at two locations. Since then, a planning team met and created a calendar, sign-up times, and menu options for the group.

Lawrence Greer, Director of Operations at Faith Mission says one of the group’s greatest assets is a dedicated team of volunteers.

People are responding quickly to the request to serve after Hurricane Harvey.

For those who would like to help, Brenham GameChangers has an online sign-up available for volunteers to help at The Cannery with preparing meals, packaging meals, and also serving in-house meals to 1st responders and Texans affected by Hurricane Harvey.  Go to: http://nhnbrenham.weebly.com/
