LOCAL JOBLESS RATE DROPS IN NOVEMBER

  

Washington County’s unemployment rate dropped in November to a year-long low of 4.6 percent.

According to the Texas Workforce Commission, Washington County had a labor force of 14,887 last month, with unemployment at 691.

The latest numbers were down 4-tenths-of-a-percent from the October jobless rate of 5 percent, with the labor force totaling 14,996 and 741 unemployed.

The rate in November of last year was 5.4 percent.

Texas’ seasonally adjusted unemployment rate decreased to 4.6 percent in November, down slightly from 4.7 percent in October.

In Austin County the November rate fell 2-tenths-of-a percent to 4.7 percent.  The rate in Brazos County fell 2-tenths to 3 percent.  In Burleson County, the rate dropped 3-tenths to 4.1 percent.  In Fayette County the rate fell 2-tenths to 3.5 percent.  The rate in Grimes County, dropped 2-tenths to 6.2 percent.  In Lee County, the rate also fell 2-tenths to 3.6 percent.  And the Waller County rate dropped 4-tenths to 4.9 percent.
