LOCAL MAN NAMED TO UNIVERSITY’S HALL OF FAME

Newman University Hall of Fame.

Former Brenham Cub basketball standout Edward C. Wills has been inducted into the Newman University Athletics Hall of Fame in Wichita, Kansas.

Wills was inducted as part of the 1999-2000 Men’s Basketball team led by Coach Mark Potter, which won 20 games in a row and was undefeated in the MCAC Conference.

Ranked 13th in the nation, the Jets advanced to the NAIA National Tournament.

Wills, along with teammate Marlon Sears, was named All-American.

Edward Wills is the son of Gloria and the late Eddie D. Wills.

Edward and his wife Geneese are the parents of Desiree’, Danielle, Bryanna, Tyus and Skylar.

  1. I am so proud of my brother. I seen him through all his obstacles and achievements. I am so glad he is my brother and he is a mentor to my children. Thanks brother for the achievement and representing our family. We see so many African American men that are looked down on but this is one that was raised from good stock.
