The local job market will be taking a big hit when 47 employees lose their jobs with the closure of WorkflowOne.
Standard Register says they will be closing down the local printing plant sometime during the first quarter of 2014.
The Brenham Banner Press reports that the move is part of plans to consolidate its national distribution operations.
Employees at WorkflowOne were notified Monday that their jobs would be eliminated early next year.
The Brenham facility opened in 1981 and was acquired by WorkflowOne in 2006. They employ 47 people with an average tenure of 22 years, and specializes in printing secure documents, such as checks, business forms, prescription pads and gift certificates.
