LOCAL SALES TAX REBATES UP TO START 2018
Sales tax rebates for Brenham and Washington County are up to start the year.
Brenham’s January payment was $524,903, a 2.3-percent increase from the same period last year. The January 2017 payment totaled $512,930.
Washington County’s payment this month was $227,948, up 8.4 percent from $210,290 in 2017.
Burton received $5,063 for its January rebate, down 11.5 percent from last year, when it received $5,722.
Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar said cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose taxing districts received a total of $709.2 million in local sales tax allocations for January, 9.5 percent more than in January 2017.
