A Brenham news story is trending nation-wide on Facebook.

The story of a local McDonald’s employee who was fired for refusing service to a Brenham Police Officer is the top trending story on the social media site, Thursday afternoon.

The story broke Wednesday afternoon after Brenham Police issued a press release about the incident in which the officer and his family went to the McDonald’s on Highway 290 near HEB.

The officer was denied service by an employee whose son had reportedly been incarcerated.

McDonald’s subsequently fired the woman.

Brenham Police Chief Craig Goodman says this was an isolated incident involving one disgruntled person.  He went on to compliment McDonald’s owners and their swift action in the matter.
