LOCAL VET FIRED OVER POSSIBLE CRUELTY

Officials with the Washington Animal Clinic say they have fired a veterinarian who allegedly shot a feral cat with an arrow, then posted a photograph on Facebook.

The clinic’s Facebook page included a statement saying the veterinarian, identified as Kristen Lindsey, is no longer with the clinic and they strenuously do not condone her conduct.

The statement says the Clinic is, “…absolutely appalled, shocked, upset, and disgusted by the conduct.”

The statement goes on to say they have, “…parted ways with Ms. Lindsey,” and that they, “…condemn it in the strongest possible manner.”

The statement also reads that, “…when informed of this we responded swiftly and appropriately and please do not impute this awful conduct to the Washington Animal Clinic or any of its personnel.”

The alleged act occurred in Austin County, triggering an investigation that is underway by the Austin County Sheriff’s Office.

Lindsey could face possible cruelty charges.

  1. According to the KBTX website, even the alma mater of our local vet does not condone her actions. Colorado State University College of Veterinary Medicine has released a lengthy statement distancing themselves from her. Interesting reading.

  2. Pride and haughtiness always precede the fall, doesn’t it? As a vet, she should have been able to observe that the feline did not have the look of a feral, and looked rather well fed and groomed. Whatever, too late, as the arrow was released to do its job. So lets, instead of being angry, console those individuals who lost their kitty, whom they loved and miss…

  3. Ka, I agree with you that this is being overblown, but I disagree with you that she should have kept her job. She is a Vet and took an oath when she got her license. She should have thought about that before doing something this stupid. Just to clear matters up, the cat in question, was probably not a “feral” cat but someone’s pet. You see Tiger (who has the same markings as the cat in the Vet’s picture) is still missing. I support WAC in their decision.

  4. This is way over blown ! The Clinic does not owe any explanation to the public, and the young immature girl should of been reprimanded and kept her job. Who hasn’t done something stupid when they were young ?

    1. I totally agree the vet did not owe the public an apology, they obviously were afraid people would stop using the clinic. Maybe if the owners were friendlier they could get more clients!

And yes the media coverage is just crazy!! Let’s jump right in that and even see what other facts we can dig up about her family!! That is WRONG.

    2. She is not a “young, immature girl” – She is 31 years old and a veterinarian who took an oath.

  5. Her actions and subsequent boasting on social media are inexcusable. However, the nationwide outrage and media coverage is baffling. Where is the outrage over the murder of a Blinn student in our town? The killers still walk free in our town and not a word is said. When an animal dies, people go crazy.

Why is it that our society now values animal life more than that of humans?

    1. No one is saying the murder of a person is less significant. But the people who shot the student didn’t post pictures on the internet for the whole world to See. And who knows if whoever did it is from the this town. The girl should have definitely lost her job for what she did

    2. I think that because the way television news media like to report this kind of stuff it appears that the majority of people are outraged, when in reality it’s just a small % of the public that really care. That’s why I made my first comment. WAC over reacted. The only people that will stop using the clinic because of what happened is a very small portion. Even the cat loving people have the ability to forgive.

      1. yes, they have the ability to forgive. but in this situation it doesn’t seem like something so easy to forgive FOR. her actions in regards to the situation were callous, to go as far as posting a picture of the dead animal attached to the arrow like some sort of trophy.not only that, but her comment about not getting fired because “i’m so awesome” is just delusional. she needs to learn you can’t go around doing this kind of stuff, especially as someone who went to school for the care of animals and TOOK AN OATH.

        its disgusting.

        1. I’m amazed at this. The killing of what might be a wild cat or she mistook for a wild cat, which by the way when wild could get rabies and bite a human, and would not of been wild if the owners of cats were more responsible, is gathering more attention than the thousands of babies legally aborted each year for the selfish reason of not wanting them and for a profit to make money. This world is upside down.
