Funeral services will be Thursday for longtime Brenham civic and business leader Walter Thielemann.

Thielemann died Monday at the age of 88.

He served as president and as a director of the Washington County Fair Association, and was a director of Washington County State Bank and the Washington County Chamber of Commerce.

In 2014, Thielemann was inducted into Blinn College’s Hall of Honor.

In 1956, he and his wife Evelyn founded Walter Thielemann Construction Co. which still operates today as Thielemann Construction Co.

Funeral services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church of Prairie Hill.

Memorial Oaks Chapel is handling the funeral arrangements.

  1. When I started out in the work world right out of high school, I installed duct work for air conditioners in a lot of his houses that he built. His work was top notch and when he would visit the site and we would be working, he always took the time to visit with us. Fast forward 30 plus years, he built a home for me. That home was built just as solid as well. He also visited with me one on one while it was being built. Shows me what type of man he was. You will be missed, Mr. Thielmann.
