LONGTIME KWHI HOST AND BRENHAM COMMUNITY MEMBER DIES

A longtime KWHI host and beloved community member has died.

Jernetta Brown passed away on February 18th.

Brown was the host of “Standing in the Gap” on KWHI for over 9 years. The inspirational radio program aired on Sunday mornings from 2007 to 2016.

She also had a ministry named “Standing in the Gap” in which she provided services, food, entertainment, visits, and ran errands for members of the community. Her motto was: “If you can’t go, if you can’t do, Standing in the Gap will be there for you”.

Brown was known in the community not only for her radio program and ministry, but for her food- opening Jernetta’s Soul Food at Smitty’s in 2013.

Her other love was singing. Music was a vital part of her life and ministry, as she recorded music and sung in church and at concerts.

Visitation for Jernetta Brown will be on Friday, February 24th from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Lewis Funeral Home in Brenham. The memorial service will also be held the funeral home on Saturday, February 25th at 11 a.m.
