M I C GROUP IN BRENHAM ANNOUNCES LAYOFFS

Another company in Brenham has announced layoffs for some of their employees.

The MIC Group on Monday announced a layoff of 64 of their employees, “due to a downturn in business. “ The Company has a total of about 325 employees locally.

Roger Atkins, Senior VP of MIC tells the reason that the layoff was necessary.

When asked if there were any more layoffs planned, Atkins replied that it was “dependent on the market,” and that they didn’t want to “get into a habit of this,” but everything was “market dependent.”

Atkins went on to say that “three of their major customers have laid off 40,000 people,” and that MIC had to follow suit.

Last week, Valmont in Brenham announced that they were laying off 40 percent of their workforce, which equals to approximately 160 workers.

MIC is an international company, having locations in Brenham, Monterrey, Mexico, and Malaysia, and is a Fortune 500 Company.

  1. Again….another company with slowing sales putting workers out if work. Its backwards economic thinking. Instead of putting 65 labor employees and their 65 families in a tight spot, how about eliminate 1 highly paid exec….

  2. “Habit of this”? They have a layoff every 9-12 months. Its the only place I’ve ever worked where layoffs were inevitable.

    1. If it’s happened more than once to u, your obviously not doing something right.
