MAIFEST SERENADE HAPPENING THIS SUNDAY

  

Brenham Maifest, one of Texas’ oldest springtime celebrations, will announce the royalty for the 127th festival this Sunday.

The annual Maifest Serenade will be held at 2 p.m. at the Dr. Bobbie Dietrich Memorial Amphitheatre at Hohlt Park. In the event of bad weather, the Serenade will be moved to the Brenham High School cafeteria. 

Last year’s kings and queens will announce the identities of their successors. The 126th Junior Court includes Queen Ellie Brooke Van Dyke and King Austin David Cone, who will introduce the 127th Junior Maifest Court Royalty.

The 126th Senior Court includes Queens Madison LeAnn Tomachefsky and Hannah Elizabeth Damon and King Colson Charles Altman, who will introduce the 127th Senior Maifest Court Royalty.

Music will be provided by the Brenham High School Band. The Brenham High School ROTC will post the colors and Boy Scout Troop 742 will hand out programs to those attending.

Maifest President Emeritus, Gary Sonnenburg will lead the pledge to both the America and Texas Flags.  John Moorman will lead the singing of “The Star Spangled Banner” and “God Bless America”.

Pastor Chad Marrs of First Baptist Church will give the invocation. Maifest Association President, Dr. Heather Thielemann will serve as the master of ceremonies.

In addition, the themes of the 2017 Maifest courts will be announced as well as many of the activities planned for the Maifest weekend. Children ages 3 through high school are encouraged to register for participation in the Maifest celebration.

Craig Montana will be broadcasting live from the Maifest Serenade beginning at 2 p.m. this Sunday.
