MAIFEST SERENADE THIS SUNDAY

One of Texas’ oldest traditions, Brenham Maifest, will announce the Royalty for the 128th Maifest, this Sunday.

The annual Maifest Serenade will be held at 2 p.m. at the Dr. Bobbie Dietrich Memorial Amphitheatre at Hohlt Park in Brenham.

Participating in the program will be last year’s kings and queens, who will introduce their successors.

The 127th Junior Court, Queen Victoria Dippel, and King Samuel Clepper, will announce the 128th Junior Maifest Court Royalty.

The 127th Senior Court, Queen Gracie Westerfeld and King Jacob Pyle, will announce the 128th Senior Maifest Court Royalty.

The themes of the 2018 Maifest courts will be announced and many of the activities planned for Maifest weekend will be presented.

The Brenham High School Band will provide music.  The Brenham High School ROTC will post the colors and Girl Scout Troop 298 will hand out programs to those attending.

Wesley Brinkmeyer, a director with the Maifest Association, will serve as the master of ceremonies.

Any and all children from age 3 through high school are encouraged to register for participation in the Maifest celebration, which will be May 4-5, 2018. Participants can register online at www.maifest.org/participate.

In the event of inclement weather, the Serenade will be moved to the Brenham High School cafeteria.

KWHI will have live coverage of Sunday’s Serenade, beginning at 1:45 p.m. on KWHI and kwhi.com.
