MAN SHOT BY LEE COUNTY DEPUTIES AFTER DRIVING INTO PATROL CAR

  

A man was shot Wednesday night near Dime Box in Lee County after a deputy involved incident.

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office says two deputies responded to the report of a suspicious person Wednesday evening on CR 424, just north of FM 141.

When deputies arrived on the scene, they approached the man to find he was dressed only in his underwear.

Deputies say he refused cooperate with them. Against repeated commands, the man jumped into his truck. The deputies then deployed a taser, which was unsuccessful in subduing him.

The man then managed to get behind the wheel and ram the deputies’ patrol vehicle. It was then that the suspect was shot by one of both of the deputies.

The suspect was rushed to the hospital in Bryan where his condition was stable, but non-responsive.

The Texas Rangers are investigating the shooting, as is standard procedure. More details, including the suspect’s name, could be released today (Thursday).
