CONTESTED RACES SET FOR MAY 9TH ELECTIONS

  

 

The filing deadline for the May 9th elections has passed, leading to contested races for the Brenham School Board, Brenham Mayor, Blinn Board of Trustees and Burton School Board.

The Brenham ISD Board will have a new look, with three incumbents: Marshall Harrell, Ray Weiss and Dr. Donald Draehn, have each chosen not to run for reelection.

Mark Schneider has filed for Position 1, where he was to have faced former board member Carey Council.  However, Council withdrew from the Position 1 race Friday, and re-filed at the last minute to face Susan Jenkins, who is running for reelection to her Position 3 post.

Dr. Michael Altman will run unopposed for Position 2, and Brenham Police Sargent Kelvin Raven is the only candidate for Position 4.

Mayor Milton Tate has filed for re-election, and faces the challenge of  Dr. Gary Gabriel in May.

Council members Danny Goss and Weldon Williams will be unapposed for re-election.

On the Blinn College Board, Position 3 Trustee Teddy Boehm has announced she intends to run for re-election.

For Position 1, incumbent Richard Powell will face challenger David Reynolds.

Debbie Goss and Stacy Holle Aschenbeck have filed for Position 4, being vacated by Leon Toubin.

For the Burton School Board, two at-large positions are on the ballot.  Board President Marcus Broesche and Vice-president Terri Roberts Smith have announced they are running for re-election.  Ande “Arch” Bostain and Brian Jaeger have announced they are also running for those two spots.
