MEMORIAL DAY SERVICE HAPPENING IN CHAPPELL HILL

The Chappell Hill Cultural Heritage Group will host its 9th annual Memorial Day tribute Monday at the Chappell Hill Historical Society Museum- 9225 Poplar St. Chappell Hill

“Our program begins at 10 AM and will feature musical tributes, guest speakers, student essay readings, Posting, Retiring the Colors, in honor of all who gave their lives in defense of our country. While this event does not celebrate war or its damaging effects, it serves as an opportunity to express our deepest appreciation to military families everywhere. As Harry Hause, said, “Those of us who are still breathing cannot repay the sacrifice of those who gave their lives defending us...at the very least, we can, and we must, remember them.” – stated Madelyn O’Brien, Chair of the Chappell Hill Cultural Heritage Group.

This year’s theme “America, What My Country Means to Me” which is also the subject of this year’s student essay contest,” We strongly believe this topic to be relevant for students of all ages, and one of the most important purposes of our organization is to help everyone understand and appreciate the true meaning of this traditional American Holiday.

The Museum will be open to the public and we encourage our friends from Washington County and the surrounding area to come take part in our program,” concluded O’Brien.
