MEMORIAL FOR FALLEN OFFICERS HAPPENING FRIDAY IN BRENHAM

A memorial service to honor fallen law enforcement officers will be held Friday morning in Brenham.

Washington County Peace officers lay a wreath at the Courthouse to remember fallen peace officers in 2014.

The service will take place at 10 a.m. outside the Washington County Courthouse.

This week has been designated as “Police Week” nationwide- a time meant to honor the men and women of law enforcement who have been killed or disabled in the course of serving their communities.

Last year, 118 officers died in the line of duty, and of those, 66 were victims of malicious attacks.  These attacks increased by nearly 40 percent from 2015.

Washington County Chief Deputy Jay Petrash will speak during the brief memorial service.

The entire community is invited to attend.
