MIDDLELANDS FESTIVAL WILL NOT RETURN TO GRIMES CO.
Officials with the Texas Renaissance Festival say a music event that drew over 60,000 people to the area will not be back in Grimes County.
Officials with the Renaissance Festival have issued a statement saying the Middlelands Festival will not be back on their property in 2018.
The event earlier this month featured a weekend of artists from Electronic Dance Music. The event also included complaints from numerous nearby residents as well as 42 drug-related arrests by Grimes County Sheriff’s deputies.
Following the event earlier this month, several nearby residents complained about the excess noise coming from the grounds during the weekend-long event that featured several well-known artists in the Electronic Dance Music genre.
During the event, Grimes County deputies say 42 drug-related arrests were made.
Renaissance Festival general manager, Terre Albert said the Middlelands Festival, “…was a great success and brought over 60,000 people to the area from all over the country and the world. However, after a meeting with executive leadership and based on Texas Renaissance Festival’s overall mission, we’ve have made the decision to not move forward in hosting the event again.”
On Thursday, a town hall meeting set up by the organizers of Middleands, Insomniac and C3, was canceled.
