A Montgomery County man,  charged with killing both his parents in front of his niece, has been indicted by the Montgomery County Grand Jury.

24-year old Joseph Samuel Branstetter, told police in September that he shot 58-year-old Cathy Gibbs, and her husband, 54-year-old Randall Branstetter, but that it was an accident.

But he now stands charged with Capital Murder.

The sheriff's office says a 12-year-old girl at the home in Porter called to report the shooting. She told dispatchers her uncle shot her grandparents. Deputies say at first, Branstetter ran off, but later returned to the home to turn himself in.

Branstetter is being held without bond at the Montgomery County jail. Montgomery County Sheriff's investigators have not indicated a motive for the killings.

  1. Lock this one up and throw away the key. The rise in heinous crimes in these modern times is a biblical proportion of the decline of civilization as we know (knew) it. It’s getting borderline ridiculous.
