Samuel Poffenberger is a sophomore who hopes to advance his career goals by continuing his education. He served as the president of the Blinn-Brenham Student Government Association this past year. He was also an active member of the Blinn chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa national honor society. He also helped start the Blinn Business and Yoga clubs.. He is also helping start a club that teachers students to build and maintain websites. He says it was an honor to be recognized.
Vanessa Martinez graduated from Brenham High School in 2004. She has married and has become a mother since then.
Ms. Martinez as named president of the Hispanic Organization for Latino Awareness Club, served as an active member of the PTK; worked closely with the Student Government Association, a member a Catholic Student Union, and worked part-time in the Student Leadership and Activities Office.
Martinez plans to join Blinn’s Criminal Justice Program in the Fall and complete an internship with a local police department before receiving her certificate and going on to Sam Houston State to study criminal justice. Martinez says she has been a full time wife and mother, while going to college and that ‘if I can do it, anyone can,’
Poffenberger will graduate on Friday and hopes to pursue a career in business after going to either Texas A&M or the University of Texas.
