MURDER-SUICIDE IN GRIMES COUNTY

  

The Grimes County Sheriff’s Office is investigating what they believe to be a murder suicide in Iola.

Concerned neighbors had asked deputies to do a welfare check on the couple because they hadn’t been seen since Friday evening.

Upon entering the home, the bodies of 64 year old Dan William Chandler and 55 year old Noemi Pullantes Chandler were discovered around 8:00 Monday night.

Investigators believe Noemi Chandler died of a single gunshot wound to the lower back. Dan Chandler died of a self-inflicted wound, according to the autopsy results.

The couple had been married for five years, and deputies believe that marriage problems may have contributed to the shooting.
