NAVASOTA FOOD PANTRY TREASURER ARRESTED

The former treasurer of a food pantry in Navasota has been arrested for embezzlement.

Tracy Ashley has been charged with embezzling over $30,000 over the past five years from the Christian Community Service Center.

Pantry officials told KBTX-TV, Ashley confessed at a board meeting last month.

Volunteer Director Patricia Gaston says Ashley left the center with only $200 to continue operations.

Gaston says the pantry's monthly budget is anywhere from $800 to $1,600.   She says the pantry is accepting donations and hoping to move forward.

A new treasurer has been assigned to the board, and new rules and regulations for finances are in place. The board will go over finances at every board meeting.

Guaranty Title is holding a food drive for the pantry, Thursday, June 30 in the Navasota Walmart parking lot.

Monetary donations may be mailed to Christian Community Services, P.O. Box 185, Navasota, TX 77868.

  1. I knew Tracy from rockpraire behavioral hospital! She’s a great person just got set back! I pray she doesn’t go to prison!

    1. A setback? Stealing $30K is not just a set back. And you can’t say it’s a mistake, either, as the crime went on over a period of 5 years.
