NEW LANDOWNER EDUCATION SERIES IN LAGRANGE

  

A multi-county New Landowner Educational Series continues this week in Fayette County.

New landowners in Washington, Austin, Fayette and Colorado counties are invited to take advantage of this series of programs to learn the best ways to use and manage their rural property.  This Friday, March 16th, the program at the Fayette County Extension Office in LaGrange will cover pond construction, pond ecology, vegetation management and stocking rates and management.  Registration begins at 1:00 p.m. Friday, with the program from 1:30 to 5:00 p.m.  The cost is $20 per person with drinks and refreshments included.

The New Landowner Educational Program is a series of 8 informational meetings, seminars and field days being held on the third Friday of the months February through May, and August through November.  Topics to be covered during the series include raising livestock and horses, fence building, applying pesticides, soil testing, rain water harvesting, turf management and many others important to new rural property owners.  The programs are presented by the Texas A&M Agrilife Extension Service and sponsored by Capital Farm Credit of LaGrange and Bellville, and by Citizens State Bank of Somerville.
