NEW MURAL BEING PAINTED IN DOWNTOWN BRENHAM

Mural Artist Christopher Barnett

A new mural being painted in Downtown Brenham is drawing a lot of attention.  The mural is being painted on the side of Legends Billiards and Grill at the corner of Main and South Park Streets.  The mural depicts World Champion Snooker Player Ronnie O’Sullivan.  Mural Artist Christopher Barnett from San Marcos began painting the mural this week and hopes to complete it by Sunday.  Legends owner Callie Schmidt said she came across Barnett on the internet while researching murals.  She said she wanted a mural on that side of the building to make it more interesting and to show the entry door for Legends better.  Schmidt says that she plans on repainting all of the building and may add a smaller mural in the front to advertise Smitty’s Café.  She added that Legends is getting a makeover on the inside also and will now have live music every weekend.  Photos of the mural can be viewed at kwhi.com.  Mural Artist Christopher Barnet’s website is MuralsbyChristopher.com.

  1. While gathering the story, I was told by several people, including an employee of Legends, that the mural was of Paul Newman. The small black and white print the artist is going by looked to be a young Paul Newman. On Saturday, an astute reader pointed out that the mural was of Ronnie O’Sullivan. I researched the small photo, and discovered it matched others taken of O’Sullivan. I then edited the story with the correct person listed.

  2. Brenham’s historical downtown and buildings are starting to like a train passing through town.

  3. I’m for that, Brenham wants to be moving toward big city and draw in more turists they should enact a no smoking in all restaurants and the pool hall it would bring in more revenue overnight.

    1. Brenham currently has a no smoking policy for all public buildings. Unfortunately, since legends is a bar they are exempt; but the smoke smell doesn’t stay within the bar area.

    1. Awesome! How about with the remodel you enact a no-smoking policy in there so more people and families can enjoy playing pool?

      1. I agree. The smoking turns me off immediately. Come home with cigarette smell all over me. Don’t care for that.

        1. Why don’t some of you non smokers open one up and not allow smoking? That’s what’s great about living in the USA!

        2. Have to say that I agree, Smitty’s has always had GREAT food, but I can’t handle the ever present smoke smell. It would be fun to go play pool, but I refuse to breath in all the smoke and fumes.
