NEXT BRENHAM POLICE ACADEMY TO BEGIN FEBRUARY 8TH

The Brenham Police Department is taking applications for their next Citizens Police Academy. There are no height or weight requirements or physical agility tests to pass, they are just looking for people with a strong interest in learning about the inner workings of the police department.

The next Citizens Police Academy will begin February 8th, and a limited number of spaces are available.  Classes are once a week on Thursdays at 6:30pm to 9:30pm. The purpose of the program is to allow citizens to meet the men and women who serve them, to educate citizens in the "how" and "why" of law enforcement, and to provide Police Officers the opportunity to meet and hear from the citizens they serve.

Participants will be able to tour different facilities, be a part of lectures, demonstrations and "hands-on" experiences so they can gain insight into the policies and procedures of the department.  Citizens in the program can ride with police officers during a normal patrol shift, which gives people a firsthand look at what officers deal with on a daily basis.

The twelve-week long classes are held at the Brenham Police Department and are open, free of charge, to anyone who lives in Washington County and is at least 17 years of age. Applications are available at http://cityofbrenham.org/police/cop.php or at the police department at 1800 Longwood Drive.  The deadline to apply for the class is February 01.
