NINE BRICKS OF COCAINE FOUND IN VEHICLE ON INTERSTATE 10

  

Nine bricks of cocaine were found in a vehicle traveling on Interstate 10 yesterday (Thursday).  Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek reports on Thursday morning around 9:40 Drug Interdiction Investigator David Smith stopped a 2009 Volkswagen passenger car that was westbound on I10 just before the Flatonia exit for a traffic violation. While interviewing the driver Smith observed nervous behavior. After obtaining consent to search the vehicle, Smith opened the trunk to the car and located a travel bag loaded with 9 vacuum sealed bricks of what tested positive for Cocaine. Assisting Smith on the scene was his partner Drug Interdiction Sgt. Randy Thumann and his K-9 Lobos. Also assisting was Deputy Rick Bohlmann, Flatonia Police Investigator Adriana Pritchard, Troopers Joshua Berger, and Roby Pennartz. Arrested and transported to the Dan R. Beck Justice Center was 59 yr. old Edelmiro Alanis Silva of Neuvo Leon, Mexico who was charged with Felony Possession of a Controlled Substance.
