The event is held to raise awareness of child abuse as well as it’s causes and victims.
This year’s walk is sponsored by the Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) and the Scott and White Hospital.
Prior to the walk a program was held on the Washington County Courthouse steps.
The event also featured several people in a number of walks of life who told those gathered about their personal experiences with child abuse.
The program was followed with a two mile walk through downtown Brenham, a prayer and balloon release.
Those in attencance also were treated to free Blue Bell Ice Cream. The organizers offered more information about other various groups concerned with child abuse and how they can come together to help the community.
This is one of the concluding events for Child Abuse Awareness Month.
