All northbound traffic on Highway 6 traveling through Navasota today (Tuesday) is at a crawl after an 18 wheeler and a passenger car collided. According to the Navasota Chief of Police, Justin Leeth, the department is "waiting on additional equipment to arrive to finish clearing the accident." He went on to suggest that they "anticipate closing 6 northbound and redirecting traffic at the FM 3090 exit once the equipment arrives."

The wreck involved a rig hauling a tanker of what the Chief believed to be a bio diesel of some kind, but left confirmation up to his Fire Chief.

Initial assumptions are that the 18 wheeler struck a slow moving passenger vehicle that was attempting to move from the shoulder on to the highway, which cause the rig to come to rest between two pillars. While some reports have suggest the rig overturned, this was not the case.

The driver of the passenger vehicle was transported to a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries, according to Leeth, and the driver of the 18 wheeler refused treatment on the scene.
