OFFENSIVE JOKES FOUND IN GIDDINGS H.S. YEARBOOKS

Officials with the Giddings School District are apologizing after a number of jokes some could deem racist and offensive turned up in their 2016 High School yearbook.

Administrators have given parents and students the option of receiving a new yearbook.

According to the Giddings Times and News, the yearbook instructor was on maternity leave when some students slipped in a page at the back of the yearbook that contained some “inappropriate and racist” jokes.

Principal Chad Rood apologized, saying the school has offered full refunds or will edit the yearbook to insert a different page.

Superintendent Roger Dees says they are looking into how this happened and how it can be avoided in the future.
